A Reunion Wedding at Whitworth Hall, Manchester
Austin served the groom's family on his Partington round in 1986. Decades later, he surprised them at the wedding.
When Austin started out in 1986, his first round was in Partington, Trafford, and one of his regular stops was a family with seven children. Years later they found each other again on Facebook, and the eldest son, Gerard, asked us to be part of his wedding.
The reception was at Whitworth Hall, the University of Manchester's ornate venue with its own courtyard. We waited out of sight, the groom slipped away to join Austin on the van, and we drove into the courtyard playing "(Is This The Way To) Amarillo", his choice.
The family's reaction was worth the wait, and we spent the rest of the day serving a new generation of the family he once served on his round.
